Why it matters

The Importance of Early Intervention

When it comes to treating children with ASD, early evaluation and intervention is vital to the success of the treatment. Children who receive appropriate education and support at key developmental stages are more likely to gain essential skills and integrate more successfully into society. Creating targeted treatment plans at the earliest possible age can make a huge difference in the academic and social life of your child.

At National Therapy Center, we offer a full range of Early Intervention (EI) autism services to help you give your child their best possible chance at success.

ABA Teletherapy

To ensure that your child will receive the care they need when they need it, we offer teletherapy services to all of our ABA families.

ABA teletherapy can take different approaches of either working with your child directly or using parent coaching providing you with strategies to implement with your child throughout their daily routines. All ABA staff providing services via teletherapy have completed specific training to implementation of teletherapy.

ABA Therapy FAQs

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy is an evidence-based approach that helps children learn new skills and reduce challenging behaviors. It focuses on breaking down goals into small, achievable steps and reinforcing progress. ABA is widely recognized as the gold standard of care for supporting children with developmental needs, especially autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

The frequency of ABA sessions depends on your child’s unique needs, goals, and schedule. Services may range from a few hours per week to more intensive programs of 20–40 hours weekly. Our team works with families to create a personalized treatment plan that fits your child’s needs and your family’s routine.

ABA therapy can be provided in a variety of settings, including your home, in the community, or at one of our National Therapy Center locations in the Washington, DC area. The setting is chosen based on where your child will benefit most and where skills can be practiced in real-life situations.

Getting started begins with an intake process where we learn more about your child’s strengths and needs. We then work with your insurance provider to confirm coverage. Next, one of our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) completes a comprehensive assessment to develop an individualized treatment plan. Services are scheduled once the plan is approved by insurance.

ABA therapy is overseen by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Therapy sessions are typically carried out by trained Behavior Technicians (BTs) or Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) under the supervision and guidance of the BCBA. This team approach ensures that your child receives high-quality, consistent care.

ABA sessions are tailored to each child. They may include structured activities at a table, natural play-based teaching, and practice of daily living skills. Each session focuses on individualized goals such as communication, social skills, or self-help. Sessions are engaging, interactive, and designed to make learning enjoyable.

ABA is considered the most effective, research-backed therapy for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). While ABA is commonly associated with autism, it can also help children with a variety of learning, behavioral, or developmental challenges. ABA builds skills that promote independence and improve quality of life.

Caregivers play a vital role in ABA therapy. You are an active member of the treatment team, helping reinforce skills outside of therapy sessions and participating in parent training. We provide guidance and coaching so you feel confident supporting your child’s progress at home, school, and in the community.
