The Augmentative/Alternative Communication (AAC) Clinic
Our Vision is......
- To help every individual find a communication system that allows them to communicate effectively and efficiently across environments
- To provide individualized evaluations, treatments and programming of devices to fit the AAC device to the person instead of fitting the person to the AAC device
- To provide a staff that are knowledgeable and passionate about AAC
- To provide a team approach to evaluation, device selection and treatment that includes and values the input of families
In addition to evaluations and individual therapy, the AAC Clinic provides the following services:
- AAC evaluations: including initial evaluations and trial sessions with various systems
- Funding guidance for AAC systems: including working with insurance companies and providing referrals to alternate funding sources
- Ongoing individual AAC therapy: including aided language therapy and device programming
- AAC groups: including child and teen groups
- Parent training sessions: including training in device programming, use of device in home environment, and more
- Professional Development: including training of other SLPs and other professionals in theory and use of AAC
